Neighbourhood Services
The Department has responsibility for the delivery of the following essential,
high quality public services throughout East Ayrshire:-
Leisure Services
covers the Dean Castle Country Park, Library, Registration and Information
Services, Arts & Museums, Outdoor Amenities (including street cleaning),
Community Recreation and Leisure Development.
Housing Services covers
traditional Housing and Homeless service provision alongside Community Safety and Cleansing Services.
Housing Asset Services are the in-house contractor providing a repair, maintenance
and capital programme service to the Council's housing and property portfolio.
Planning and Economic Development includes local development planning, heritage and other projects, planning applications and enforcement, building warrants, economic development through the provision of advice and funding and the development and operation of skills and employability training projects, the promotion of tourism, funding advice for community groups and organisations and all forms of mapping.
Roads and Transportation covers Local
Transport Strategy, Road and Bridge Design, Road and Street Lighting, Road Safety
Information, Road Maintenance, Road Works Information, Scaffolding Permits and Skip Permits.
The Director of Neighbourhood Services also has direct responsibility
for the departmental Central Services and Emergency Planning functions
and, on behalf of the Council, is responsible for Police, Fire and Water
services liaison.
