Licensing
The Licensing Section is based in Council Headquarters, London Road,
Kilmarnock.
With the exception of a few types of applications which may be dealt
with under delegated powers, applications under the Licensing (Scotland)
Act, 1976, as amended by the Law Reform and Miscellaneous Provisions Act,
1990, must be presented to a quarterly meeting of the Licensing Board
for consideration. By statute, these meetings are held in January, March,
June and October of each year. The closing date for applications falls
five weeks prior to each board sitting, and there are statutory procedures
which must be followed in terms of advertising applications and lodging
objections.
The Licensing Board also considers applications under the Betting, Gaming
& Lotteries Act, 1963 for the grant/renewal of bookmakers Permits,
Betting Office Licences and Betting Agency Permits and the Gaming Act
1968 for the grant/renewal of Bingo Licences.
